Maintenance Electrician

About the Role

Silver Fern Farms Hāwera invites applications for a motivated and skilled Maintenance Electrician to become part of our wider engineering team. This position involves hands-on daily electrical maintenance, repairs, and reliability improvements within a progressive, stable, and robust engineering environment.

The maintenance team operates 45 hours per week on a two-week rotating schedule from Monday to Friday. Day shifts run from 5am to 4pm and night shifts from 2.30pm to 2am. You will engage in projects and new equipment installations alongside a variety of electrical applications throughout the site. About You

Candidates with experience in fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) or other applicable production environments will have an advantage. Key qualities include teamwork, fault identification, analytical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities to deliver exceptional service to the processing plant. While operating independently at times, you will remain a connected member of the maintenance team. Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive 'can-do' attitude to get the job completed efficiently are essential, along with an openness to innovative ideas and cross-site collaboration to diagnose and permanently resolve issues.

• Relevant trade qualification accompanied by full New Zealand EWRB electrical registration.
• Solid understanding of electrical principles and maintenance procedures within an industrial processing context, or a strong eagerness to learn.
• Past exposure to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Variable Speed Drives (VSDs).
• Capability to analyze challenges, apply effective solutions promptly, and communicate clearly with colleagues.
• Self-driven with the ability to work independently as well as within a closely-knit engineering team.
• Organized and adept at prioritizing and managing workload in a demanding engineering environment, demonstrating leadership by example.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development, including potential growth into leadership roles, refrigeration trade skills, or project design.
