Position Overview
The role is a non-tenured faculty position at OCOM focused on delivering education in predoctoral didactic, clinical programs, and graduate medical education. This position primarily involves teaching biomedical sciences within a clinically integrated curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver lectures and educational content in didactic preclinical subjects and preferred courses within the Department.
- Support academic endeavors including teaching medical students, engaging in scholarly activities, and contributing to departmental service efforts.
- Collaborate with clinical coordinators as directed by the department chair.
- Lead or teach assigned courses, potentially acting as course director.
- Participate in varied educational methods such as lectures, workshops, labs, quizzes, exams, and student evaluations.
- Mentor students preparing for exams including licensing board tests and assist students without matched residencies.
- Communicate effectively using tact and persuasive skills, exhibiting strong oral and written communication.
- Provide instruction across all four years of medical education, including residents and physicians, as assigned.
Time Commitment
- On-campus presence expected 5 days per week for biomedical sciences faculty.
- Protected research time is approximately 30% for biomedical sciences faculty.
Qualifications and Experience
- Candidates should hold DO (preferred), MD, or PhD degrees.
- Active Board Certification (AOA or ABMS) and a valid US medical license are required.
- Preferred candidates will have proven exceptional scholarly or professional achievements.
- Prior experience in academic or healthcare delivery settings is advantageous.
- Familiarity with integrating biomedical sciences into clinically oriented curricula is favored.
- Knowledge of Problem-Based, Case-Based, or Team-Based Learning approaches is desirable.
