Role Overview
The Associate Software Front-End Developer position is an entry-level role focused on a variety of projects involving research, design, and development. This role emphasizes creating prototypes and supporting innovative front-end design practices to produce industry-leading UI solutions efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with experienced team members to build, deliver, and maintain applications of high quality.
- Write efficient, well-documented, and high-standard code.
- Perform coding, testing, debugging, and implement solutions as needed.
- Manage or coordinate small to medium prototypes throughout all development phases including ideation, requirements gathering, construction, and presentation.
- Gain insight into both business and technical project needs.
- Identify personal knowledge gaps and proactively seek assistance from senior colleagues to meet quality and timeline expectations.
- Ensure developed solutions fulfill both business objectives and technical criteria such as performance, maintainability, and stability.
Candidate Requirements
- Must be available to attend in-person team events at the One York office approximately 2 to 3 times each term.
- Self-motivated with strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities.
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt to evolving requirements.
- Results-oriented mindset focused on meeting project requirements effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to breakdown concepts and transform ideas into functioning prototypes.
- Team player capable of collaborating closely with technical and non-technical team members, especially within Agile frameworks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills suitable for diverse audiences.
Technical Qualifications
- Pursuing a university degree in Computer Science or a related discipline with an expected graduation date of December 2026 or beyond.
- Familiarity or experience with Agile methodologies, hack-a-thons, and interest in innovation and artificial intelligence are advantageous.
- Experience with web application technologies such as JavaScript (ES6), React.js, HTML, CSS, Webpack, XML, and JSON.
- Good understanding of web application frameworks including Bootstrap and client-server technologies.
