About the Role

An experienced Mechanical Inspector is sought to join the team for a project based in Abu Dhabi, with a preference for immediate joining.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and inspect all contractor activities onsite ensuring compliance with approved shop drawings, materials, method statements, and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Assess site conditions prior to commencing construction work.
  • Ensure site compatibility with designed permanent structures and identify any obstructions.
  • Document existing site conditions and safeguard nearby properties, utilities, and landscaping from damage during works.
  • Review and verify delivered materials against approved samples, standards, and report any issues.
  • Confirm proper storage of materials onsite and report any discrepancies.
  • Inspect both temporary and permanent constructions to confirm adherence to contract documents, approved drawings, and submissions.
  • Respond promptly to Inspection Requests submitted by contractors.
  • Analyze submitted shop drawings for conformity with contracts, local regulations, and international best practices.
  • Report non-conforming contractor work to relevant parties for appropriate remediation.
  • Monitor quality of workmanship, site safety, health, and environmental compliance per contract and safety assessments.
  • Maintain detailed daily logs, progress reports, and photographic records accessible for inspections.
  • Prepare reports on site deficiencies and non-conformance when required based on developments.
  • Ensure effective coordination among all related disciplines on site.
  • Provide expert technical guidance to resolve on-site discipline-related challenges.
  • Promote site safety practices and report any concerns promptly.
  • Assist with inspection of completed work, prepare punch lists, and monitor start-up, testing, commissioning, and handover phases.
  • Execute any other tasks assigned by the direct manager.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Possess a Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in similar roles, including a minimum of 3 years within the UAE.
  • Strong knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, and trade practices is essential.
  • Proficient with computers and relevant software applications.
  • Effective communicator with clear logical expression in interactions with management and team members.
  • A commitment to adhering to safe work practices is required.
