Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Business Development Director to spearhead the growth of our projects team on a national scale. This strategic leadership position involves guiding a team of three and actively securing key major construction projects across the UK. The candidate will be pivotal in cultivating enduring partnerships with Tier One and Tier Two Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) contractors, influencing specifications, and managing high-value tender processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and implement a comprehensive business development strategy targeting large-scale construction projects.
- Lead and mentor the projects business development team to meet growth objectives.
- Establish and nurture long-term strategic relationships with top-tier M&E contractors and their decision-makers, including Commercial Directors, Procurement Teams, and Project Directors.
- Identify and capture specification opportunities, driving high-value tenders to success.
- Maintain and develop a robust pipeline of major projects from initial engagement through contract award.
- Collaborate closely with internal commercial, technical, and operations units to ensure sustainable business growth.
Candidate Profile
- Documented success securing major contracts and tenders within Tier One M&E contractors.
- Substantial leadership experience in business development or commercial roles within construction, building services, or the M&E sectors.
- Well-established UK-wide network of senior decision-makers in the M&E contractor scene.
- Experience with manufacturers, specialist suppliers, or distributors in the construction industry.
- Proficiency in specification selling, strategic account management, and project tracking.
- Outstanding commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and capability to influence executive stakeholders.
- Based in England or Wales with readiness for frequent travel throughout the UK.
Compensation & Benefits
- Basic salary ranging from £80,000 to £95,000 annually.
