Job Overview

The Associate Manager for Risk and Operations plays a crucial role within the Reverse Mortgage team, under the supervision of the Senior Manager. Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and uphold risk and control frameworks within the business unit.
  • Detect operational risks, control deficiencies, and inefficiencies in existing processes.
  • Engage in root cause analysis with a view to developing appropriate corrective measures.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for all processes, controls, and standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in assessments related to anti-money laundering (AML), fraud, privacy, and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist with regulatory change management, including relevant testing and documentation tasks.
  • Monitor credit and portfolio trends including exceptions, Key Risk Indicators, and defaults.
  • Prepare regular reports and dashboards to inform decision-making processes.
  • Escalate any notable risks or atypical trends to senior management.
  • Support regulatory activities such as reporting, loan re-appraisals, and ongoing portfolio monitoring.

Qualifications and Skills

  • University degree, preferably in Business or Finance.
  • At least five years of experience within a Canadian financial institution.
  • Three to five years’ relevant experience in residential or reverse mortgage origination, including underwriting and operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian banking products.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements including OSFI B20 guidelines and AML/ATF regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and enterprise software tools.
  • Strong organizational abilities capable of managing tasks in a high-pressure, time-sensitive setting.
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
