Role Summary

This role, based in Darwin, involves the comprehensive planning, organization, oversight, and execution of structural construction tasks for a significant high-rise student accommodation project.

Key Responsibilities

• Organize, lead, and oversee all structural construction phases, including concrete, formwork, reinforcement, post-tensioning, and structural steel installation as applicable.
• Manage floor cycle times, prioritize milestones, and maintain critical path scheduling to meet structural program objectives.
• Collaborate with Site Managers and Project Engineers to formulate and implement both short-term and forthcoming project schedules.
• Track project progress rigorously, proactively mitigating any delays, risks, or productivity issues.
• Sequence structural construction activities thoughtfully to facilitate smooth transitions to following trades and phases.
• Direct subcontractors and labor resources to meet program schedules, quality standards, and safety regulations.
• Coordinate labor, machinery, materials, tower crane workflows, concrete deliveries, and site logistics to optimize productivity.
• Conduct thorough pre-pour inspections, manage key quality checkpoints, and maintain comprehensive documentation and inspection records.
• Inspect work to ensure strict compliance with design drawings, engineering specifications, and construction tolerances.
• Identify and manage defects and nonconformities, ensuring prompt resolution and closure.
• Foster a strong culture of safety across all structural operations, ensuring adherence to company HSEQ policies, SWMS, permits, and site-specific safety standards.
• Carry out routine site safety inspections, safety observations, and lead toolbox meetings.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with project teams, subcontractors, clients, and other stakeholders.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to Lead Hands and site team members, encouraging accountability, collaboration, and ongoing improvement.

Candidate Profile

• Possess trade certification in Carpentry, Concreting, Civil Construction, Construction, or a related field.
• Bring at least five years of experience in foreman, structural foreman, site supervisor, or an equivalent role within commercial construction projects.
• Have a proven track record managing structural packages on multi-story commercial or high-rise buildings.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of structural building techniques, including formwork, reinforcement, concrete applications, post-tensioning, and structural steel operations.
• Show capability in overseeing subcontractors, labor forces, and overall site productivity.
• Be adept at interpreting structural blueprints, engineering details, construction specifications, and project timelines.
• Understand construction safety laws, quality assurance systems, and health, safety, environment, and quality (HSEQ) requirements thoroughly.
• Exhibit excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
• Possess strong organizational and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to site management.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and construction management software is highly advantageous.
