Role overview
One Degree Organic Foods is seeking a Quality Assurance Supervisor in Mission, British Columbia. Reporting to the QA Manager, this position supports the company’s food safety and quality systems while also leading and developing a team. The role focuses on keeping products aligned with strict quality, safety, customer, and regulatory expectations.
What you’ll be doing
- Build, maintain, and improve food safety and quality programs, including GMP, HACCP, BRC, FSMA, and related audit requirements.
- Supervise, guide, coach, and train Quality Control team members to make sure food safety practices are followed.
- Prepare, revise, and maintain SOPs, SSOPs, forms, and document control records so they stay compliant with GMP and BRCGS requirements.
- Lead orientation and procedure training, and keep SOPs and related policies current.
- Monitor shipping and receiving activities and resolve quality concerns quickly.
- Investigate quality issues, carry out risk analysis, and work with others to implement corrective actions.
- Partner with the QA Manager to plan and carry out audits, review systems, and close corrective actions.
- Perform gap analysis and support the implementation of the HACCP program.
- Help order laboratory supplies when needed.
- Support new product development and conduct daily GMP walk-throughs with key stakeholders.
- Coordinate with departments to support employee training and keep training schedules on track.
- Take on additional duties as required.

Requirements and qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Food Science or a closely related field, or equivalent relevant training.
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar position.
- Knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards, supported by HACCP certification.
- Working understanding of GFSI standards and current government regulations.
- Experience with hazard analysis, risk assessment, internal audits, and training employees on food safety.
- Background in supervising or leading a team within quality assurance or food safety.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent organization, accuracy, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to think critically, solve problems creatively, and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Preferred: valid driver’s licence.
- Preferred: experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Preferred: GFSI and PCQI certification.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts when needed, including coverage for vacations, sick days, or leave.
- Availability to work occasional weekends or other times as business needs require.
Compensation
Salary range: $69,000 to $84,000 per year.
