Role Overview
The Junior Dispatcher, based full-time on-site in Addis Ababa, plays a key operational role in daily transport activities. Responsibilities focus on allocating loads, coordinating drivers and vehicles, and ensuring timely pickups and deliveries. The role requires clear communication with drivers, warehouse personnel, and clients for instructions, status updates, and resolving straightforward operational issues. Maintaining precise records of trips, loads, and related documentation using dispatch systems or spreadsheets is essential. Additionally, the Junior Dispatcher supports route planning, adheres to safety and compliance protocols, and promptly reports delays or incidents to senior management.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
- Experience ranging from none up to one year, including internships.
- Competence in coordinating transportation operations, route planning support, and managing scheduling.
- Excellent communication abilities for professional interactions with drivers, warehouse teams, and customers.
- Basic proficiency in computer use including email, spreadsheets, and dispatch or tracking software.
- Strong attention to detail for accurate maintenance of logs, trip records, and paperwork.
- Organizational skills and time management to manage multiple tasks and prioritize efficiently.
- Capacity to work in a dynamic on-site logistics environment and collaborate across teams.
- Geographical knowledge of Ethiopia and neighboring countries is advantageous.
- Beneficial prior logistic, transportation, or customer service experience or internships.
- Completion of secondary education is mandatory; further logistics or transport certifications are a plus.
