Content Understanding Large Language Model Algorithm Engineer (PhD Graduate) - Global E-Commerce

About the Role and Team

This role is part of a team focused on enhancing e-commerce product quality and ecosystem governance through algorithmic improvements and close collaboration with business units. The team addresses challenges such as risk mitigation, violation prevention, and low-quality content management, aiming to optimize the e-commerce platform's governance effectiveness while raising operational efficiency and reducing expenses. The team also prioritizes leading AI innovations spanning NLP, computer vision, multimodal and large-scale models, graph and sequence algorithms to fuel business development.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop domain-tailored large language models (LLMs/MLLMs) specifically for e-commerce applications, integrating specialized knowledge to support rapid model deployment in business contexts.
• Deeply analyze e-commerce governance scenarios to enhance platforms for merchant, product, video, live-stream, and intellectual property rights monitoring through algorithm refinement. Build advanced intelligent review systems capable of explicating rejection reasons.
• Engage in tasks including data preparation, foundational model improvements, instruction fine-tuning, chain-of-thought processing, and parameter-efficient fine-tuning to maximize model effectiveness in e-commerce domains.
• Resolve domain-specific challenges such as modeling long sequences, few-shot learning techniques, content moderation, violation identification, and policy advisory by leveraging large and multimodal models.
• Conduct research and optimization of NLP and multimodal large models geared towards multilingual, multi-task, and multi-modal algorithmic improvements across diverse e-commerce use cases.

Candidate Qualifications

• Applicants must be completing or recently completed a PhD in Computer Science, Software Development, Computer Engineering, or related technical fields.
• Strong programming capabilities with a solid grasp of data structures, algorithms, and experience utilizing various algorithmic and engineering frameworks.
• Demonstrated expertise in machine learning fundamentals, with research experience in deep learning, reinforcement learning, natural language processing, or multimodal learning.
• Effective communication and collaborative skills to work closely with teams exploring new technologies and driving innovations.

Preferred Attributes

• Prior research publications in top-tier international conferences or journals such as ACL, EMNLP, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, or CVPR are advantageous.
• Demonstrated practical achievements in competitive environments like Kaggle, GLUE, Super GLUE, or CLUE challenges are welcomed.
