Role Overview
The Accounting Clerk will offer essential daily accounting and administrative support within the Finance department, ensuring accurate recording, verification, and processing of financial transactions in line with company policies and accounting principles. You will be instrumental in maintaining financial documentation, managing invoices, reconciling accounts, preparing reports, and aiding in month-end and year-end closing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Precisely record and maintain financial transactions in the accounting system per company and accounting standards.
- Process supplier invoices, employee reimbursements, and various financial documents timely and accurately.
- Support accounts payable and receivable activities, ensuring complete and authorized documentation.
- Verify accuracy and completeness of financial documents such as invoices, purchase orders, and payment requests.
- Reconcile supplier statements, customer accounts, and general ledger discrepancies promptly.
- Assist in preparing vendor payment schedules and related documentation.
- Maintain organized accounting files and documentation for audit and compliance requirements.
- Prepare journal entries and contribute to monthly and annual closing procedures.
- Support bank reconciliations and ensure cash receipts and payments are recorded timely.
- Monitor outstanding invoices and assist in pursuing overdue balances as needed.
- Generate routine financial reports, reconciliations, and schedules for management review.
- Track fixed assets records and participate in inventory and asset verifications.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, policies, and financial regulations.
- Provide support during internal and external audits by preparing necessary documents and responding to queries.
- Collaborate with Purchasing, Receiving, Stores, HR, and other departments to guarantee accurate and prompt financial processing.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of financial information and company records.
- Identify and suggest improvements for accounting processes to enhance Finance department efficiencies.
- Perform other duties supporting the smooth functioning of the Finance team.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related fields.
- 1 to 2 years of accounting, finance, or bookkeeping experience, preferably in the hospitality sector.
- Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general accounting operations is advantageous.
- Experience with ERP or accounting software will be beneficial.
- Solid understanding of fundamental accounting principles and financial procedures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Knowledge of accounting systems and financial reporting software.
- High numerical accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment with sensitive financial data.
- Analytical thinker with good problem-solving capabilities.
- Collaborative team player able to work within a multicultural environment.
- Good command of written and spoken English; additional languages are a plus.
