About the Role
USIC is seeking motivated individuals passionate about outdoor work and independent field assignments to join our team as Utility Locators. We are nationally recognized leaders dedicated to underground utility damage prevention, serving telecommunications, electric, gas, water, sewer utilities, and municipalities. Our team performs over 84 million locates annually, aiming to deliver safe, efficient, and innovative infrastructure protection solutions.
Responsibilities
- Locate underground utilities accurately and safely, including telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer lines.
- Conduct thorough searches within designated areas, properly marking utility locations and documenting each locate with photos and required paperwork.
- Utilize company-provided vehicles and technology to perform independent fieldwork with a strong focus on quality and safety.
- Meet turnaround requirements, including working the day after holidays, some weekends, and being available for overtime and on-call shifts (nights and weekends) as business needs dictate.
Candidate Requirements
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions; previous experience outdoors is beneficial.
- Strong technological proficiency to operate modern locate and claims management systems.
- Willingness to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends, and on-call periods.
- Ability to pass a drug screening as this position is safety-sensitive.
- Valid driver's license with a clean and safe driving record.
- Physical capability to work in confined spaces, walk, bend, and lift up to 75 pounds.
- Color vision sufficient to distinguish utility marking colors.
- Competency in reading and interpreting locate tickets, maps, and prints.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with colleagues, customers, contractors, and property owners.

- Starting pay at $20.00 per hour.
