Telecommunications Technician

Overview

This role involves hands-on field work supporting, diagnosing, and repairing telecommunications systems and related equipment. The position is based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and requires regular travel to different work sites.

• Secondary school graduation certificate, or an equivalent level of experience

Experience

No prior experience is required; experience is considered an asset.

Work Location and Travel

Work assignments may change from one location to another, and the job requires frequent or ongoing travel. This is an on-the-road position.

Responsibilities

• Identify faults in telecommunications equipment, then adjust, replace, or repair the affected parts.
• Review test outcomes and make the necessary changes or repairs to switching systems, networks, associated hardware, and software.
• Assess the type, source, and location of technical problems.
• Work at heights while climbing poles, ladders, and similar support structures.
• Service and restore aerial and underground transmission systems.
