Work Environment & Benefits

Role Overview
The Senior GIS Engineering Technician plays a vital role within a collaborative team utilizing Geographic Information System technology across engineering, planning, facilities, asset management, and business operations. The position focuses on managing enterprise GIS infrastructure with ESRI tools to support infrastructure projects, operational decisions, and ensure high-quality geospatial data.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead enterprise GIS operations by administering ESRI technologies such as ArcGIS Enterprise and Portal, including server GIS applications and geodatabases.
- Maintain authoritative geospatial data ensuring accuracy, integrity, security, and accessibility.
- Integrate GIS with business systems including Business Intelligence platforms and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.
- Troubleshoot GIS systems, recommend improvements, and implement best practices.
- Collect, validate, and analyze geospatial data from field work and multiple departments.
- Manage and integrate diverse datasets including GIS, CAD, BIM to keep accurate engineering and operational records.
- Conduct advanced spatial analysis, perform quality assurance, and validate data for planning and decisions.
- Create maps, lease plat exhibits, engineering drawings, and technical reports supporting various projects.
- Document processes thoroughly and ensure compliance with standards and best practices.
- Coordinate and provide leadership to technical staff and consultants on GIS projects.
- Operate Authority vehicles for site visits across the airport campus.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Associate's degree in GIS, computer science, or a closely related field.
- At least six years of experience managing GIS systems, specifically using ESRI software including ArcGIS Pro and Portal for ArcGIS.
- Four years of BIM experience utilizing Autodesk Revit.
- Or a comparable combination of education and relevant experience.
Licenses and Certifications
- Valid driver's license with insurability according to Authority policies.
- Successful completion of required background checks, training, and testing for security and telecommunications operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in GIS, Computer Science, or related field.
- Certifications such as GIS Professional (GISP), ArcGIS Enterprise Administration Professional, ArcGIS Pro Professional, and Project Management Professional (PMP).
Essential Role Requirement: Driving
This position requires frequent driving of airport Authority vehicles, necessitating a valid California driver's license, compliance with traffic laws and safety protocols, and maintaining an acceptable driving record.
