Role Overview
Airswift invites applications for the position of QC Inspector specializing in Mechanical Rotating Equipment to support a major Oil & Gas project based in Doha, Qatar. Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate should hold a degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Materials Engineering or possess a technical diploma with direct exposure to multi-disciplinary construction quality control. Formal QC training and membership in recognized professional bodies are preferred. Mandatory certifications include CSWIP 3.2 / AWS-SCWI Senior Welding Inspector and NDT Level II qualifications (ASNT, ISO, etc.). Additional certifications like BGAS grade-2 or NACE Level 2 Painting Inspector are advantageous. Equivalent internationally recognized certifications will also be considered.
Experience prerequisites include a minimum of 10 years for degree holders and 15 years for diploma holders in similar positional roles within the Oil & Gas sector, especially with GCC experience being a plus.
Hands-on experience should cover storage tanks, piping and pipeline welding inspections, testing, and installation activities related to static and rotating equipment. Comprehensive knowledge of quality control aspects and testing requirements in major Oil & Gas and petrochemical construction projects is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement relevant company management system elements for quality control functions.
- Ensure personal and team safety along with active participation in all construction safety measures.
- Prevent environmental pollution during project activities.
- Coordinate and attend inspections, testing, and punch listing representing the company interests.
- Become conversant with project-specific inspection and contract documentation to ensure thorough compliance.
- Apply quality inspection protocols to construction work, suppliers, and subcontractors per project specifications.
- Validate that inspection and test documentation adhere to the project quality plan, inspection test plans (ITPs), and requirements.
- Complete inspection forms and reports accurately while maintaining all inspection records.
- Communicate effectively with contractors, third parties, and stakeholders at appropriate levels.
- Verify calibration and availability of measuring and testing equipment records.
- Conduct surveillance on construction activities to detect issues or non-conformances and assist in corrective/preventive actions.
- Liaise with site supervisors and contractors to schedule and ensure non-destructive examination (NDE) activities are planned and executed.
- Support Senior QA/QC Engineer reviewing and approving contractor documents including QCPs, ITPs, WPS/PQRs, special procedures, personnel qualifications, material approvals, vendor documents, MRBs, and project dossiers.
- Monitor and witness fabrication, installation, inspection, and testing for structural steel, process piping, pipelines, tanks, rotating and static equipment including internals and interface activities.
- Oversee inspection and testing processes related to welding, NDT, post-weld heat treatment (PWHT), hardness testing, valve pressure testing, alloy verification, painting, and ensure adherence to project standards.
- Closely watch special processes and personnel performance, weld repairs, and NDT status; report concerns to Senior QA/QC engineer.
- Participate in the receiving inspection of permanent materials and verify documentation for traceability of bulk piping materials, structural steel, static and rotating equipment, consumables including welding electrodes, filler wires, gases, and painting/ wrapping materials.
- Follow up on corrective actions and non-conformance closures.
- Monitor contractor compliance trends and provide performance feedback.
- Initiate surveillance and non-conformance reports (NCRs) for senior approval.
- Maintain all relevant QA/QC documents and records diligently.
