Job Overview
The Production Scheduler is crucial in fulfilling customer demands by collaborating closely with Operations, Food Safety Quality Assurance, Purchasing, Warehousing, and Sales departments. The role involves developing detailed schedules for all production sectors, ensuring schedule compliance and optimization, addressing any production challenges, and maintaining high service standards. This dynamic position offers chances to enhance business operations continuously.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain production schedules based on demand forecasts, confirmed sales orders, internal capacity, and cost effectiveness.
- Understand supply chain elements such as supplier lead times, inventory levels, demand fluctuations, forecasting, and optimal purchase quantities.
- Track raw material usage, prepare material ordering plans considering lead times, issue purchase orders in Microsoft Dynamics (D365), and monitor deliveries.
- Address weekly production issues by adjusting orders and schedules as business needs or inventory changes dictate, while communicating with stakeholders.
- Analyze causes of schedule failures, collaborate cross-functionally to resolve issues, and implement preventive improvements.
- Coordinate with Production on schedule updates and clarify priorities as needed.
- Lead or contribute to Change Control Management processes for introducing new items or materials.
- Support related departments (accounting, quality) with matters such as invoice discrepancies, non-conforming materials, and supplier corrective actions.
- Notify management about aging and slow-moving inventory.
- Interpret MRP outputs from Microsoft Dynamics and plan production accordingly.
- Manage batch scheduling and statuses within the ERP system to align production and purchasing activities.
- Oversee transitions involving new raw materials and launch plans for new finished goods SKUs.
- Review production processes to identify and apply continuous improvement measures.
- Maintain supplier relationships to manage forecasts, ordering, and expedite materials.
- Effectively communicate delivery or material issues with vendors.
- Participate actively in daily production meetings.
- Provide backup support to Receiving Lead for inventory receiving, paperwork, and batch finalization tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management or a relevant field; or minimum 3 years of experience in production scheduling or planning.
- Working knowledge of Material Resource Planning, inventory control, and order management.
- Experience using ERP systems.
- Proficiency in computer skills with ability to quickly learn new software.
- Intermediate skills in Excel.
- Strong attention to detail coupled with organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- A cooperative, positive team-oriented attitude.
