Principal Telecommunication Engineer

Job Overview

As a Principal Telecommunication Engineer, you will serve as a subject matter expert in communications, overseeing the creation and assessment of execution strategies, implementation plans, interface coordination, baseline datasets, risk management, and specialized telecommunication design solutions. Your role is to ensure the integrity and quality of design outputs, proactively identify risks, and implement effective mitigation strategies throughout the project lifecycle.

Core Responsibilities

• Engage and collaborate with international clients to provide comprehensive communication system solutions and address design plan issues.
• Coordinate with global clients, classification societies, regulatory bodies, and third parties to resolve technical concerns and review relevant feedback.
• Lead the assessment of technical bidding documents, offer clarifications, and appraise bid submissions.
• Deliver technical training and mentorship to client design teams, conducting no fewer than five training sessions or accumulating at least 20 hours annually.
• Fulfill any additional duties assigned by the client related to communication engineering.

Qualifications and Experience

• Possess a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field.
• Bring over 15 years of expertise in instrumentation and telecommunication design for offshore fixed platforms or floating oil and gas production units, with at least 5 years involving international projects.
• Preferred candidates have project experience in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, or Brazil and previous employment with reputed engineering firms such as Technip, Worley, Wood, Fluor, or McDermott.
• Comprehensive knowledge of communication engineering principles, technical standards, and industry regulations.
• Familiarity with international project operational systems and client design philosophies, coupled with strong problem-solving and risk mitigation skills.

Technical and Behavioral Competencies

• Proficient in communication design tools including AutoCAD and Navisworks; skilled in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Experience with 3D software inputs is advantageous.
• Detail-oriented, responsible, and industrious, willing to work extended hours according to project demands.
• Demonstrates proactive learning ability and eagerness for continuous skills enhancement.
• Excellent coordination and organizational capabilities, adept at mobilizing teams for problem resolution and ensuring effective communication.
• Rich experience in field coordination and readiness to undertake domestic/international travel and offshore postings as required.
• English proficiency sufficient for professional communication; domestic candidates should hold CET-6 certification or TOEIC score above 700; native English speakers preferred internationally.
