About the Role
We are looking to hire a Logistics Manager responsible for designing and implementing logistics strategies that ensure compliant, cost-effective, and efficient cross-border and international trade activities. The role includes managing relationships with carriers, customs clearance agents, and couriers while providing operational and regulatory expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the internal authority on trade compliance, logistics procedures, and regulatory mandates.
- Develop, document, and standardize logistics workflows and best practices across all North American facilities.
- Train and guide internal teams on domestic and international shipping and customs protocols.
- Act as the main liaison for logistics process execution, collaborating with suppliers, carriers, customs brokers, and legal advisors.
- Keep abreast of global trade developments and market trends to identify risks and opportunities proactively.
- Ensure all import/export activities adhere strictly to regulations such as USMCA, CBSA, U.S. CBP, EAR, ITAR, and sanctions.
- Oversee product tariff classification (HS/HTS codes) and country of origin assessments.
- Advise on tariff impacts and craft practical strategies to reduce cost exposure.
- Monitor regulatory changes and coordinate cross-functional responses to business impacts.
- Engage with external consultants, customs brokers, legal teams, and trade partners to maintain compliance.
- Design and deploy best practices to minimize tariffs and maintain regulatory compliance.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and courier services.
- Recommend and manage transportation providers ensuring service quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability.
- Analyze freight expenses and spearhead cost-saving and duty-optimization programs.
- Define, implement, and monitor logistics KPIs aligned with customer and business objectives.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Between 7 to 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in logistics, transportation, and international trade, ideally within manufacturing.
- Comprehensive understanding of cross-border trade regulations including USMCA, CBSA, U.S. CBP, EAR, and ITAR compliance.
- Proven experience managing relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and third-party logistics providers.
- Expertise in tariff classification (HS/HTS codes), determining country of origin, and implementing duty reduction methods.
- Experience in developing and rolling out logistics strategies, processes, and initiatives focused on continuous improvement.
- Strong analytical capabilities, including freight spend management, cost modeling, and KPI development.
- Excellent leadership qualities with effective communication and stakeholder management skills to influence cross-functional teams and regional collaborators.
- Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP platforms.
- Professional certifications such as CITT, CSCMP, or specialized customs/trade compliance credentials are advantageous.
- Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
