About the Role
This entry-level Human Resources Specialist I position with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice involves assisting in the management and administration of human resource programs. The role is performed under close supervision, allowing limited scope for independent judgment or initiative. Candidates are expected to submit both a resume and a completed application containing sufficient employment history to enable assessment of qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Support basic human resources management functions and administrative duties.
- Assist with day-to-day operations relating to the HR program under close supervision.
Candidate Profile
Ideal candidates will have a minimum of six months of full-time wage earning experience in fields such as human resources, customer service, clerical or administrative assistance, program or public administration, financial operations, auditing, or technical program support. Experience with computer operations is preferred. Candidates who are detail-oriented and motivated to learn will be more successful.
The position also values individuals who enjoy working collaboratively and enjoy supporting others within a team environment.
Additional Information
- The salary for retirees will be 2.5% lower than the posted rate.
- No overnight travel is expected, although day trips may be required.
- No work site visits, pre-service training academy, or hazardous duty requirements apply.
- The role is classified as longevity eligible.
