About the Role
AECOM, a global leader in infrastructure consulting, is seeking a Commercial Manager to join their team in Doha, Qatar. The selected candidate will act as a crucial liaison between operational demands and corporate functions, ensuring that commercial initiatives are transparent, strategic, and aligned with overall goals. This role involves collaborating with senior leaders, project teams, and multiple departments to provide commercial support throughout project lifecycles, enhancing financial health and commercial focus.
Responsibilities
- Offer strategic commercial and risk guidance across all project phases to evaluate performance and support leadership on project, business unit, and organizational levels.
- Create and deliver financial reports, forecasts, and analyses assessing commercial performance for designated projects and portfolios.
- Oversee change control processes emphasizing commercial impacts; identify and leverage commercial risks and opportunities.
- Ensure all commercial operations align with company policies and comply with regulatory frameworks.
- Utilize contractual mechanisms, prepare change quotations, and lead successful negotiations with clients and stakeholders.
- Engage in regular meetings with project progress forums, change control committees, and clients to maintain open communication and alignment.
- Contribute to risk management by updating risk registers and assessing allowances within financial reporting and forecasts.
- Collaborate with discipline leaders and project teams to identify, document, and evaluate scope changes and their commercial consequences.
- Manage earned value management, cost reconciliations, and estimate-at-completion reports.
- Administer supplier contracts, vendor relations, payment applications, and invoice processing.
- Develop and execute commercial strategies that boost profitability while nurturing strong client relationships.
- Provide mentorship and support to team members promoting a cooperative and inclusive workplace culture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, law, engineering, or related fields.
- Professional certifications like ACCA, ACMA, CPA, MRICS, or equivalents are highly preferred.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in commercial, financial, or legal roles within corporate or project environments.
- Demonstrated capability managing commercial elements of large-value projects exceeding $1 million.
- Strong expertise in risk management practices.
- Advanced business analysis, financial interpretation, and budget forecasting skills.
- Knowledgeable in commercial and contract law with familiarity in NEC, JCT, FIDIC, or similar contract types.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of cross-department collaboration and influencing stakeholders.
- Proven vendor and supplier management experience.
- Ability to solve problems with resilience, flexibility, and adaptability in dynamic settings.
- Proficient with project management software, earned value management systems, and financial reporting tools.
- Strong command of written and spoken English.
