Welding Engineer

Job Summary

This position holds primary responsibility for managing the implementation of ongoing workshop operations focused on welding. The incumbent will design, develop, and establish welding processes and protocols to ensure the highest standards of quality and structural integrity. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams will be essential to refine welding approaches, uphold safety norms, and resolve welding-related challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and deploy welding procedures customized for project-specific materials and requirements.
• Conduct welding inspections and audits to verify conformance with recognized industry standards such as ASME, API, and AWS as well as internal company criteria.
• Offer expert technical assistance to maintenance staff, production teams, and stakeholder groups to address welding concerns and recommend process enhancements.
• Coordinate closely with other departments including Maintenance, Engineering, Project Management, and Fabrication to integrate welding tasks seamlessly within overall project timelines.
• Design and implement training sessions to improve workforce skills in welding techniques, safety measures, and operation of related equipment.
• Maintain comprehensive records of welding processes, qualifications, inspections, and generate necessary reports for audits both internal and external.
• Keep abreast of the latest advancements in welding technology and methods, assessing their suitability for company projects and processes.
• Ensure all welding practices comply fully with safety regulations and best practice standards to reduce hazards and foster a safe work environment.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, Welding Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 8 to 10 years of relevant experience, preferably within Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Heavy Manufacturing sectors.
• Professional certifications such as Certified Welding Engineer (CWE) or Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) are advantageous.
• Comprehensive understanding of different welding techniques including MIG, TIG, and Stick welding as well as materials commonly used in the industry.
• Familiarity with welding industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
