Visual Designer

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Visual Designer for a contract position based in Edinburgh, working on-site two days per week for a six-month duration. This role is ideal for a mid-to-senior level professional focused on elevating digital product experiences across multiple brand platforms through visually compelling designs within an established design system.

Responsibilities

• Enhance the user experience of digital products for both web and mobile platforms using expert visual design skills.
• Collaborate effectively with Product Owners, Engineers, UX Designers, and Customer Journey Managers to craft cohesive end-to-end digital experiences.
• Create high-fidelity UI designs and related visual assets that meet brand guidelines and accessibility standards.
• Support numerous projects by adapting design solutions to fit specific product needs.
• Participate in refining and expanding the design system to ensure consistency and quality across all deliverables.

Deliverables

• Produce detailed UI designs for web and mobile apps.
• Develop visually engaging solutions addressing complex product challenges.
• Design assets that align with both brand and product specifications.

Qualifications and Experience

• A strong portfolio demonstrating UI and digital product design capabilities.
• Experience working within large organizations and managing designs across multiple brands.
• Ability to operate within established design systems.
• Comfort with agile, product-driven environments.
• Solid grasp of UI design principles including layout, hierarchy, and visual storytelling.
• Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with UX, product, and technical teams.

Technical Skills

• Fluency in Figma for design and prototyping is essential.
• Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office is advantageous.
• Basic understanding of front-end development concepts is a plus but not mandatory.
