Vendor Manager - Transportation

Role Overview

The Vendor Manager will oversee and optimize third-party transportation and logistics vendors to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and scalable support for transportation operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify, onboard, and manage transport vendors and subcontractors to maintain a robust vendor base supporting operational needs.
• Ensure all vendors adhere to company standards and deliver expected service quality.
• Negotiate contracts, service agreements, and rates, maintaining competitive pricing and cost efficiency.
• Monitor adherence to contract terms and evaluate vendor performance regularly.
• Plan vendor capacity in coordination with operations teams, managing fluctuations and peak seasonal demand.
• Track critical performance metrics such as service levels, cost control, reliability, and take corrective action when necessary.
• Collaborate closely with Fleet Managers and transport teams to balance internal versus outsourced capacity and contribute to transportation strategy implementation.

Qualifications and Skills

• Possess 5 to 8 years of experience in vendor management within the logistics or transportation sectors.
• Demonstrated expertise in negotiation and contract management.
• Experience managing relationships with third-party logistics providers.
