About Via and the Role

As a Utility Worker based in Mobile, AL, you will be instrumental in preserving the safety, functionality, and efficiency of Via's facilities, vehicles, and surrounding grounds. This position involves hands-on maintenance and operational support duties essential for seamless day-to-day operations. Comprehensive on-the-job training is provided, and no previous transit experience is necessary.
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain, sanitize, and detail buses and support vehicles to guarantee safety and comfort for both riders and staff.
- Handle general upkeep of buildings and grounds, including custodial duties and minor repairs, ensuring a clean and safe environment.
- Carry out basic vehicle maintenance under supervision, such as tire swaps.
- Assist the operations team with various tasks, including equipment relocation, workspace organization, and participation in special projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned, which will be discussed during the interview and may evolve with operational needs.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Must hold a valid driver’s license.
- Demonstrate adaptability by handling diverse tasks and projects.
- Proactive and results-driven, taking initiative to complete tasks efficiently.
- Must pass a drug test, criminal background check, and motor vehicle records verification; employment contingent on successful screening.
- Able to complete a pre-employment physical examination.
- No felony convictions, DUI/DWI, or reckless driving offenses; no more than two speeding tickets.
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- Available to attend an in-person interview at the Mobile office.

- Hourly wage ranging from $18 to $20, final figure based on experience and skills.
