Utility Worker - Full Time (Shift Varies)

Overview

Northeast Georgia Health System is dedicated to enhancing community health. We are seeking a Utility Worker responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in all kitchen areas, ensuring kitchen equipment and dining utensils are hygienic, supporting meal service operations, and assisting in dining room organization. During slower periods, additional kitchen tasks may be assigned.

Key Duties

• Maintain a tidy and professional personal appearance.
• Wash and sanitize dishes in both the kitchen and dining room.
• Perform sanitation activities including managing recycling, waste disposal, sweeping, and mopping.
• Assist in food stocking and ensure food rotation using FIFO procedures.
• Adhere to critical sanitation practices such as thorough hand washing, proper food storage, and food temperature monitoring.
• Comply with Federal and State long-term care regulations alongside Dietary Department policies and procedures.
• Sanitize utensils and food prep surfaces after each use according to schedule and standards.
• Follow safety protocols, infection control, and emergency procedures as outlined by facility guidelines.
• Support receiving and storing of food and supplies as required.
• Communicate courteously and cooperatively with guests, team members, clinical support staff, and clients.
• Demonstrate reliability and punctuality with no attendance restrictions.
• Follow all safety rules and use protective equipment consistently, including knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
• Maintain excellent personal hygiene, including proper hand-washing techniques, hospital no-smoking policies, wearing hairnets or hats in food prep areas, and maintaining a neat appearance.

Physical Requirements

• Occasional lifting and carrying of up to 50 lbs (0-30% of the time).
• Frequent kneeling, stooping, and bending (31-65% of the time).
• Constant standing and walking (66-100% of the time).
• Frequent pushing and pulling (31-65% of the time).
• Work demands include reading, writing, reasoning, speaking, and keyboarding.
