Job description

Role Overview

As a Payroll Manager, you will oversee and guide our expanding payroll team, managing daily operations for the organization's client-facing payroll functions. Your leadership will support payroll specialists, associates, and assistants in delivering accurate and timely payroll services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage payroll processing activities as required and handle the assignment of new clients.
  • Conduct training sessions and meetings for payroll team members.
  • Lead recruitment efforts including interviews, and conduct performance evaluations with coaching support.
  • Serve as a mentor and leader in operational initiatives to promote excellence within the team.
  • Train new employees and clients on payroll systems, procedures, company policies, and best practices.
  • Develop and enhance procedures to improve payroll processing accuracy and efficiency.
  • Review payroll procedures regularly and recommend improvements.
  • Ensure payroll is processed correctly and on schedule.
  • Prepare detailed wage summaries covering earnings, taxes, deductions, leaves, retirement contributions, and benefits for clients and employees.
  • Collaborate with Accounts Payable and tax departments on processing voids for both current and previous years.
  • Respond to and resolve payroll-related queries and issues.
  • Analyze and rectify payroll discrepancies effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll laws.
  • Support hiring processes, staff performance reviews, payroll adjustments, and disciplinary measures.
  • Organize and lead monthly team meetings and maintain accountability for CRM cases and tasks completion.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Required certification: Fundamental Payroll Certification (FCP) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP).
  • At least 10 years of experience in payroll processing.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Professional Employer Organization (PEO) or Administrative Services Organization (ASO) handling multi-state payroll.
  • Experience with PRISM and HR Pyramid payroll systems is preferred.
