Overview
Rhythm Transport Inc is hiring a truck driver for on-site work in Mississauga, Ontario. This role involves frequent travel and may require work at varying locations.
Language
English is required for this position.
Education
A secondary school graduation certificate is required. Training will be provided, so prior experience is not mandatory.
Role summary
This position is centered on long-haul and road-based driving, route planning, cargo safety, vehicle inspections, and communication with dispatch. The driver may work as part of a two-person team or convoy and must be prepared for travel that is frequent or continuous.
Responsibilities
- Use GPS or other navigation tools to plan or revise routes according to road, traffic, and weather changes, with the goal of reducing fuel use and emissions.
- Operate the vehicle as part of a two-driver team or convoy when required.
- Monitor the vehicle’s condition and check tires, lights, brakes, refrigerated equipment, and related systems.
- Carry out emergency roadside repairs when needed.
- Complete inspections before departure, during the trip, and after arrival, and supervise the vehicle throughout the journey.
- Handle preventive maintenance tasks.
- Share trip and delivery updates with central dispatch.
- Track cargo details, driving hours, kilometres driven, and fuel use.
- Secure cargo properly, including tarping and protecting goods during transport.
Credentials
An AZ class licence and Air Brake (Z) endorsement are required.
Documentation and equipment knowledge
Experience with driver logbooks, cross-border paperwork, GPS devices, and similar navigation systems is expected.
Industry experience
Knowledge related to roads and highways is included as part of the role’s specialization.
Additional information
Applicants must be able to pass a driving record abstract check and a drug test. A valid driver’s licence is also required.
Working conditions
The job involves handling heavy loads, repetitive movements, and long periods of sitting.
