Job Overview
We are looking for a skilled Survey Crew Chief to lead operations for a major highway design project based in Windsor Mill, MD. This role requires a hands-on, outdoor professional who can manage survey teams effectively while ensuring safety and coordination with field and office staff.
Work Schedule and Contract Details
The position operates Monday to Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM on a 12-month contract-to-hire basis. A company vehicle will be provided to support project needs.
Responsibilities
- Daily coordination with project managers, field coordinators, and office personnel to align survey activities.
- Oversee and guide survey crew members to guarantee the collection of accurate and high-quality data.
- Manage daily data uploads and downloads while maintaining survey equipment in optimal condition.
- Provide hands-on assistance in the field, including transporting equipment and prepping sites.
- Strictly comply with all applicable safety regulations and company policies.
- Engage in initiatives to improve survey processes and adopt evolving technology.
Required Skills and Experience
- At least three years of onsite experience in surveying.
- Proficiency with robotic total stations and GPS surveying tools; experience with State Highway Administration (SHA) is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with Trimble or equivalent survey instruments, including GPS, robotics, total stations, levels, and data collectors.
- Capability to operate independently and lead a survey team effectively.
- A strong commitment to safety and dependable performance regardless of weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD is favorable; MicroStation experience is an additional plus.
Compensation and Benefits
The hourly wage ranges between $25 and $50.
