Role Overview

This full-time permanent position of Support Worker is based at The Hub in Katherine, Northern Territory. You will partner closely with the Homelessness and Case Management teams, aiding individuals and families facing or at risk of homelessness. Employing a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and strength-based approach, you will foster trusting relationships, assist service navigation, support activities and encourage client participation in achieving their personal goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer practical assistance to clients utilizing TSA and external support services.
  • Develop meaningful relationships that promote self-determination and wellness.
  • Collaborate with staff, clients, and external stakeholders to ensure coordinated client support.
  • Maintain consistent communication with team members.
  • Encourage client engagement with their case plans.
  • Provide aid in meal services, donations, and material support.
  • Accurately document client information in adherence to TSA policies and data standards.
  • Comply with TSA's safe work practices and policies.
  • Perform general reception and administrative duties as needed.

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience in homelessness services, crisis accommodation, outreach, or similar community support roles.
  • Understanding of local Aboriginal communities and cultural awareness.
  • Cert IV in Community Services or equivalent is preferred.
  • Highly self-motivated with initiative.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills capable of building positive networks and rapport.
  • Knowledge and adherence to Work Health and Safety obligations following TSA guidelines and legislation.
  • Experience supporting individuals with limited English proficiency.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Possession of a Working with Children Check (Ochre Card).
  • Current Northern Territory Driver’s License.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Hourly pay between $44.54 and $47.76 (excluding penalties and allowances), aligned with SCHADS Level 3 award and dependent on experience and qualifications.
  • Additional above award conditions up to 10%.
  • Remote Area Housing Benefit up to $31,800 tax-free for employees living and working in the region plus an Entertainment Benefit up to $2,650 tax-free.
