Position Overview
The Supply Chain Manager leads the Procurement and Materials teams to achieve key performance indicators including material cost control, on-time delivery, inventory management, production lot formation, and finished goods shipping. Reporting to the President, this role collaborates with Operations, Contracting, Engineering, Quality, Program Management, and Human Resources to ensure safety, quality, cost effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and enforce procurement procedures, guiding Buyer/Planner staff in sourcing, monitoring, and negotiating with suppliers to optimize pricing, quality, and lead times for production materials.
- Oversee the Materials department to ensure adherence to receiving, inventory, and issuance protocols, manage material tracking and shop order creation for lot formation in line with contract needs supporting production.
- Implement and maintain compliance with contract mandates related to Ammunition Data Cards within US Government information systems.
- Ensure contractual compliance regarding material sourcing, including documented competition, restricted sources, economic price adjustments, FAR flowdowns, and supplier certifications.
- Act as the Subject Matter Expert for Supply Chain within MRP system processes, including demand forecasting, purchase and shop order creation, and inventory updates.
- Maintain the Approved Supplier List and collaborate with Supplier Quality to uphold auditing and rating standards.
- Set clear expectations and provide performance feedback and development plans for Buyer/Planner and Materials staff.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and explore alternative sourcing to enhance quality, availability, or reduce costs.
- Coordinate with various departments to meet organizational goals.
- Perform additional related duties as required.
Supervisory Scope
This position directly manages Buyer/Planners, the Materials Planning Manager, and their teams including Material Planners and Warehouse personnel.
Employment Details
This is a full-time, salaried exempt position with minimal travel requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of ten years’ leadership experience managing Procurement, Inventory/Warehouse, and Receiving within a Supply Chain Department.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and Bills of Materials.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Proactive and team-oriented with strong deadline management skills.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and experience with MRP/ERP and Data Management systems.
- Familiarity with Government Contracting regulations is advantageous.
