Overview
The Structural Engineer role at COOEC in Doha, Qatar involves overseeing project coordination and technical discipline integration for offshore structural engineering projects. The position requires active communication within the project team, contributing to scheme formulation and ensuring adherence to technical requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify the scope and technical demands of structural work.
- Participate in resolving technical queries and preparing discipline-specific proposals.
- Design, review, and approve structural engineering documentation, addressing client feedback promptly.
- Coordinate, monitor, and resolve issues arising in structural technical documentation.
- Prepare and assess technical documents related to material procurement, including bid evaluation clarification, vendor drawing reviews, and Factory Acceptance Testing support.
- Compile and evaluate specialized reports and verify structural calculation results.
- Manage site coordination, engage in scheme discussions, and provide technical assistance during construction phases.
- Deliver technical training and mentorship to design engineers regularly, ensuring at least 40 hours or 10 training sessions annually.
- Perform additional tasks as delegated by the Project Manager and Structural department.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field.
- A minimum of 10 years' experience specifically in offshore structural design for platforms such as FPSO, semi-submersible, or offshore platforms.
- Proficient knowledge of international offshore structural standards including API RP-2A, AISC, ISO 19902, and Shell DEP.
Technical and Behavioral Competencies
- Excellent command of English communication, spoken and written.
- Structural Engineer requirements: Experience with offshore oil platform structural engineering tasks and proficiency in SACS, ANSYS, and AutoCAD software applications.
- In case of Geotechnical and Foundation roles, expertise with offshore platform geotechnical engineering and use of Grlweap, SACS, and AutoCAD is mandatory.
Employment Terms
The position is offered through third-party staffing, with employment contracts managed by a human resources agency. The incumbent will provide services to COOEC under this arrangement.
