About the Role
YO AI Labs is seeking experienced software engineers for a contract position to remotely contribute to next-generation AI systems by performing real-world engineering tasks. This position is ideal for developers adept at navigating new codebases, articulating engineering decisions with clarity, and tackling practical challenges in backend, full-stack, systems, or infrastructure domains. Candidates with a background or exposure in Cybersecurity or SecOps are highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Tackle demanding software engineering tasks spanning backend, full-stack, infrastructure, and systems projects.
- Elicit, debug, enhance, and clarify code within diverse technological contexts.
- Design and evaluate practical solutions involving APIs, databases, services, integrations, testing, and deployment pipelines.
- Analyze trade-offs related to scalability, maintainability, performance, reliability, security, and developer experience.
- Communicate technical rationale transparently in writing, detailing why solutions function and alternatives considered.
- Collaborate with the client team on technical reviews, implementations, and problem resolution.
- Adapt rapidly to varied codebases, frameworks, and evolving technical demands.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on software development experience.
- Proficiency in at least one backend or full-stack environment such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, Java, C++, Go, or Rust.
- Experience designing, maintaining, or reviewing production-grade applications, APIs, services, databases, or integrations.
- Strong grasp of software engineering fundamentals including debugging, testing, code quality, architecture, and technical trade-offs.
- Ability to clearly and objectively communicate complex engineering decisions.
- Comfortable reading and analyzing unfamiliar codebases or technical requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience utilizing CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, containerization, monitoring, or production operations.
- Knowledge of frontend frameworks such as React, Next.js, Angular, Vue, or React Native.
- Contributions to open-source projects, public GitHub repositories, technical documentation, or demonstrated past engineering accomplishments.
- Experience mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, or making architectural decisions.
