Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Centering the voices of tamariki and rangatahi, supporting them and their whānau to enact positive change.
• Engaging respectfully with diverse cultural groups and backgrounds.
• Conducting thorough assessments for tamariki, rangatahi, and their whānau.
• Leading and facilitating hui aimed at building whānau capacity to care effectively for their tamariki and rangatahi.
• Planning and implementing interventions designed to enable tamariki and rangatahi to remain safely within their whānau.
• Collaborating closely with community partners, non-governmental organizations, and government agencies.
• Serving as a strong advocate for tamariki and rangatahi to secure necessary support and resources that enable them to achieve their full potential.

Candidate Profile

• Experienced social worker with previous work in New Zealand, particularly in NGO settings and/or Oranga Tamariki roles.
• Holds a current, clean full driver’s license.
• Possesses full registration and practicing certificate issued by the New Zealand Social Work Registration Board (SWRB).
• Holds a social work qualification recognized by SWRB.
• Demonstrates empathy, patience, and the ability to understand beyond immediate struggles.
• Experience working within the child protection sector in New Zealand is preferred.
• Capability to analyze and develop social work plans, including financial plans.
• Strong judgement skills and organizational ability.
• Comfortable managing risk and making difficult decisions.

Benefits and Workplace Culture

This role offers a permanent full-time position located at our Blenheim site. Salary ranges from NZD 81,206 to NZD 97,557 annually, based on experience.
