Job description
Role Overview
The Social Development Specialist will be responsible for planning and executing community development initiatives, engaging closely with local communities and collaborators, and supporting programs aimed at social empowerment to elevate living standards and foster community involvement in regional development efforts.
Core Responsibilities
- Contribute to formulating and revising the regional social and community development strategies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify community needs and opportunities for social advancement.
- Conduct on-ground research and social analyses to comprehend community challenges and priorities.
- Interpret social and demographic information to aid in crafting impactful development programs.
- Create and launch new community projects focusing on empowerment, volunteering, and skill enhancement to uplift quality of life.
- Enhance community services through coordination with local partners, NGOs, and governmental bodies.
- Facilitate the empowerment of local groups including youth and productive families to harness development prospects.
- Develop innovative content and ideas for community awareness campaigns in partnership with relevant entities.
- Participate in organizing community events and significant regional occasions.
- Keep abreast of global best practices in social development and introduce innovative approaches.
- Carry out any other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Educational and Professional Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in social sciences, sociology, social work, community development, or related disciplines is required.
- A master's degree specializing in social development or community development is advantageous.
- Between three to five years of experience in social or community development or non-profit programming is necessary.
- Experience engaging with local communities and non-profit sector stakeholders adds value.
Skills and Competencies
- Proficient analytical capabilities to perform social studies and assess community data effectively.
- Skilled in designing and executing community development initiatives and programs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills facilitating engagement with communities, NGOs, and other stakeholders.
