Role Overview

The Slitting Operator plays a crucial role in setting up and managing slitting machines to cut packaging material rolls to precise dimensions as specified by customers. This position demands meticulous attention to process details, strict adherence to safety practices, and the ability to both maintain machinery and identify operational issues promptly.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and configure slitting machines following job-specific instructions, sales orders, and production plans.
• Operate slitting equipment safely and efficiently, closely monitoring processes to ensure quality and consistency.
• Conduct thorough inspection of finished rolls to detect defects and verify compliance with size specifications and quality standards.
• Remove defective materials identified from previous production flagged during inspection.
• Keep accurate logs of production data using physical logbooks and Oracle systems.
• Maintain 5S+S standards on the machines, complete cleaning checklists before starts, and perform line clearance after jobs.
• Label and segregate recyclable and non-recyclable waste appropriately with detailed stickers.
• Perform routine maintenance and address minor mechanical issues; escalate significant problems to maintenance teams.
• Adhere strictly to safety policies, wear personal protective equipment as required, and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
• Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to ensure smooth production flow.
• Report operational challenges, delays, or quality concerns promptly to supervisors or production managers.
• Engage in continuous improvement efforts including monitoring equipment autonomously, analyzing production data to root out problems, and proposing process optimizations.
• Participate in knowledge sharing and training activities and work cross-functionally towards goals such as zero loss production.
