Job description

Role Overview

The Drainage Site Engineer is integral to the efficient execution of infrastructure projects within the framework agreement between WSP and Ashghal. This position entails hands-on management of drainage-related construction activities, ensuring strict adherence to project technical criteria, quality benchmarks, and health, safety, and environmental guidelines. The engineer will foster coordination among contractors and project stakeholders, maintaining comprehensive communication across all phases to meet project milestones and deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise on-site drainage construction efforts, verifying adherence to detailed project plans and specifications.
  • Perform frequent site evaluations to track progress, troubleshoot potential challenges, and enforce quality control.
  • Implement and uphold rigorous HSE policies ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Facilitate effective collaboration and communication with contractors, subcontractors, and project participants for seamless execution.
  • Review contractor outputs and issue approvals with constructive input aligned to project standards.
  • Keep detailed and precise records of all construction activities, including daily documentation and reports.
  • Detect and manage any non-conformities or deviations, orchestrating corrective measures promptly.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and clients to update on project status and highlight critical concerns.
  • Ensure consistent dissemination of progress reports and maintain open communication channels with all stakeholders.
  • Assist project management in fulfilling project timelines, budgets, and overall objectives efficiently.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • At least five years’ relevant experience in drainage construction or similar infrastructure projects.
  • Comprehensive understanding of drainage system design principles, construction methodologies, and industry norms.
  • Sound knowledge of project management approaches with the capacity to handle multiple simultaneous responsibilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills enabling effective stakeholder engagement and team collaboration.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and perform under pressure.
  • Competent in utilizing project management software and documentation tools.
  • Possession of a valid professional engineering license or eligibility thereof.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and overtime as project demands dictate.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving aptitude to resolve complex project challenges.
  • Mandatory registration with the MMUP (Qatar’s Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning).
