Role Overview

The Shift Operations Manager located at the Blackpool bakery holds primary responsibility for executing the production plan effectively while ensuring the health, safety, and competency of our personnel. This leadership role promotes a culture of continuous improvement to boost operational performance, manage budgets, and maintain customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage labor standards and control overtime to stay within budget.
• Ensure staff receive adequate training to operate production lines efficiently and comply with legal standards.
• Maintain workplace safety by overseeing risk assessments, safety inspections, and timely accident investigations.
• Perform daily start-up checks and manage control sheet processing.
• Ensure accuracy and compliance in quality documentation.
• Implement and monitor the execution of the production plan.
• Track and improve efficiency metrics including waste and take-off speed (TOS) to meet targets.
• Maintain audit readiness of plant and uphold hygiene standards.

Candidate Profile

• Proven experience managing production areas or multiple lines within a 24/7 operational setting.
• Familiarity with traditional employee relations, including heavily unionized environments.
• Background in continuous improvement methodologies and culture.
• Evidence of enhancing line capabilities such as efficiency improvements and waste reduction.
• Experience in maximizing team potential through development and performance management.
• Preferably experienced in branded manufacturing sectors serving as custodians of major brands.
