Role Overview

This position is a remote, contract opportunity for a Set Designer responsible for transforming creative ideas into tangible set designs. Tasks involve creating sketches, layouts, and digital models for video, photographic, and mixed-media projects. The designer will work closely with directors, producers, and art directors, select appropriate materials and props, coordinate build and installation with production teams, and ensure sets meet aesthetic goals, safety standards, and budget constraints.

Additionally, collaboration with lighting and video teams is essential to synchronize set design with camera work, editing processes, and animation requirements. Contributions to pre-production activities such as mood boards and style guides may also be expected.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Expertise in set design including concept creation, spatial arrangement, and telling stories visually.
• Knowledge of video production to effectively work alongside directors, producers, and technical staff.
• Understanding of video editing to ensure set compatibility with post-production workflows and visual consistency.
• Familiarity with lighting to optimize sets for diverse lighting setups and camera needs.
• Ability to collaborate with animation teams, appreciating how set components interact with motion graphics and visual effects.
• A portfolio demonstrating relevant set design projects, experience in film, advertising, or multimedia production.
• Proficiency with design software such as SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, or comparable tools.
• Strong communication skills, capability to handle schedules and budgets, experience working remotely with multidisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of sustainable, practical materials is a plus.
