Role Overview

Reporting to the Head of School, lecturers will deliver exceptional teaching and assessment primarily for social work subjects, emphasizing practice-oriented assessments. Key Responsibilities

  • Remain well-versed in course content and delivery guidelines as outlined by Ikon.
  • Prepare and deliver dynamic teaching sessions using experiential learning resources.
  • Contribute towards continuous enhancement of teaching materials and learning designs.
  • Engage students through both face-to-face and digital learning platforms effectively.
  • Support student engagement and communicate student feedback to relevant departments.
  • Maintain strong partnerships with stakeholders to ensure consistent course delivery.
  • Assess and provide timely feedback on student assignments within two weeks, utilizing provided online and AI-based assessment tools.
  • Comply with academic integrity policies and manage related reporting and investigations.
  • Track student attendance and participation.
  • Participate in activities such as subject review, moderation, benchmarking, and meetings as required.
  • Prepare and submit trimester teaching reports as directed by academic leadership.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  • Hold a postgraduate qualification in social work or a closely related field, at least one AQF level higher than the course taught; alternatively, hold an equivalent qualification and minimum five years of directly relevant professional experience.
  • Possess at least three years of professional social work practice.
  • Familiar with higher education standards and AASW criteria.
  • Demonstrate current knowledge of social work practice and developments through ongoing professional learning or research.
  • Understand modern teaching methods in social work education, including assessment and delivery techniques tailored to student needs.
  • Committed to preparing graduates with the capability to address social disadvantage and distress effectively.
  • Exhibit strong communication, interpersonal, and group facilitation skills.
  • Willing to undergo National Police and Working with Children background checks if required.
  • Lecturing or tutoring experience and involvement in subject development is advantageous.
