About the company
Distribusion operates a global marketplace for ground transportation, helping travellers search for and buy tickets across bus, rail, and ferry networks online. Its B2B platform links transport operators in 70+ countries with major travel retailers and platforms such as Google Maps and Booking.com.
The company is building a worldwide network that brings carriers and retailers together, and it has expanded 10x over the last year. It is backed by TQ Ventures, Creandum, Northzone, and Lightrock, and recently completed a $80 million Series C round.
Role overview
The team is looking for a Senior Product Engineer to join the eComm Solutions group. This role focuses on the core B2B product that powers connections between global carriers, retailers, and other travel partners and Distribusion’s infrastructure. The Portal is the main interface for the ecosystem and includes booking and analytics tools, identity management, and operational dashboards. The position involves working across several domains, making architectural choices, integrating complex workflows, and partnering with Data, Platform, and eCommerce teams to deliver a scalable and smooth product experience.
Key responsibilities
- Build readable, efficient, and well-structured Python code.
- Create and support backend services and APIs for a web-based product.
- Implement backend systems for mission-critical business applications.
- Work closely with cross-functional partners to design and launch new product capabilities.
- Troubleshoot, test, and tune applications for speed and scale.
- Strengthen engineering workflows, including CI, code review, local testing, and release practices.
- Work with internal stakeholders to turn unclear problems into concrete requirements, question assumptions, and align solutions with operational realities.
Work setup
The role is based in Berlin and follows a hybrid model, with the office serving as a regular meeting point for the team. The company also operates remotely and supports distributed teams across the globe.
Candidate profile
Applicants should bring several years of experience building and running backend services in Python, including responsibility for design, implementation, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance. Experience with other languages such as Ruby or TypeScript is a plus.
Hands-on exposure to frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, or ReactJS is preferred. A solid understanding of SQL databases, including indexes and locks, is also important.
The ideal candidate is motivated, ambitious, and comfortable taking ownership of the product and technical direction. The role suits someone who thinks beyond implementation, helps shape product decisions, and contributes to the platform’s future direction. Strong English communication skills, both spoken and written, are required, along with comfort working asynchronously in a distributed team across multiple time zones.
Additional technical strengths such as full-stack development, Docker, and Kubernetes are welcome.
