Senior Ecologist

The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Ecologist passionate about delivering top-quality environmental projects. Join the expanding ecology team at Ryan Hanley, now integrated with Stantec, and take a leading role in ecological contributions across diverse infrastructure and development initiatives in Ireland. This position offers excellent potential for both technical and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and conduct ecological surveys, prepare impact assessments, and contribute to reports such as EcIA, AA Screening, NIS, and EIAR inputs.
• Provide mentorship and development support to junior ecologists within the team.
• Offer expert ecological guidance throughout project design, construction, and operational phases.
• Engage and coordinate with clients, regulators, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Conduct site visits, manage field surveys, and oversee subcontractors when necessary.
• Assist with project scoping, scheduling, tender development, and fee proposal preparation.

Candidate Profile

You should possess substantial experience in ecological assessment and environmental regulations relevant to Ireland, including the Habitats and Birds Directives. Demonstrated capability in managing complex ecological projects, workload prioritization, and stakeholder interaction is essential. Strong skills in report writing, organization, and leadership are expected, along with an ability to work independently as well as collaboratively. A commitment to biodiversity, sustainability, and producing high-quality environmental results is vital.
