Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, build, and deployment of machine learning, optimisation, and measurement solutions that tackle complex business problems and deliver clear commercial benefits.
• Create and manage scalable data science products such as predictive models, forecasting tools, segmentation analyses, recommendation systems, and frameworks for experimentation to inform business decisions.
• Develop robust and production-ready analytical datasets and machine learning pipelines using technologies like Databricks, Python, SQL, and Spark to ensure scalability and reliability.
• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to define hypotheses, success criteria, and metrics of value, translating data insights into actionable strategies that enhance commercial results.
• Lead experimentation and measurement efforts employing statistical and causal inference methods to assess business impact and performance.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to Data Scientists and Analysts by sharing best practices in modeling, experimentation, coding standards, and problem-solving.
• Contribute to the data science strategy by championing best practices and innovating retail-centric solutions in pricing, forecasting, customer behavior, and operational efficiencies.

Candidate Profile and Skills

• 5 to 8 years of hands-on experience in delivering advanced analytics, machine learning, statistical modeling, and optimisation solutions within commercial contexts.
• Proficient in Python and SQL with experience developing reproducible machine learning workflows on platforms like Databricks and Spark or equivalent big data processing technologies.
• Strong mastery of supervised and unsupervised machine learning methods, feature engineering, model validation, experimentation, and ongoing performance evaluation.
• Experience applying data science techniques in retail or related fields such as consumer goods, grocery, or apparel with a focus on high-volume environments to drive business outcomes.
• Proven ability to design, execute, and interpret experimentation and measurement frameworks that quantify business value.
• Excellent communication skills capable of translating complex analytical challenges into clear, compelling recommendations suited for stakeholder understanding.
• Leadership qualities demonstrated through mentoring, promoting best practices, and fostering growth and innovation within a high-performing data science discipline.
