Senior Cost Estimator

Position Overview

The Senior Cost Estimator at Focal Buildings Solutions (FBS) is tasked with producing accurate and comprehensive project pricing by analyzing Bill of Quantities (BOQ), scope documents, and unit rates. This role collaborates closely with Quantity Surveyors and Junior Estimators to ensure financial submissions align with project scopes and contractual terms.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute toward departmental and operational goals in support of strategic plans.
• Manage and oversee assigned tasks, guaranteeing quality and punctual completion.
• Review output, troubleshoot workflow issues, and escalate when necessary.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior team members, encouraging teamwork and skill growth.
• Recommend and implement procedural improvements to increase efficiency.
• Formulate action plans for project components and maintain accurate documentation of progress.
• Analyze performance metrics to aid management decisions.
• Track task progression, ensure deadlines are met, and suggest enhancements.
• Prepare progress reports to the department manager covering challenges and achievements.
• Assist in identifying resource requirements and contribute to budget and planning processes.
• Handle any additional tasks assigned by supervisors.
• Analyze Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and scope documents to assess client needs and pricing constraints.
• Work with Quantity Surveyors to assemble complete and accurate BOQ documents.
• Apply approved unit rates from cost databases and historical data to BOQ items.
• Create pricing summaries and payment schedules for tender and contract submissions.
• Draft variation orders in response to change requests, verifying quantities with Quantity Surveyors.
• Complete and lodge progress billing forms based on verified site quantities.
• Contribute to development and updating of cost rate sheets through ongoing market research.
• Review Junior Estimator outputs for consistency with company pricing standards.
• Ensure secure archiving of pricing packages and cost data according to internal protocols.

Qualification Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related fields.
• Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in construction and fit-out cost estimation.
• Certifications or coursework in BOQ Preparation and Cost Estimating software tools.

Language and Skills

• Fluent in both Arabic and English (writing, reading, speaking).
• Expertise in quantity take-off and cost estimation techniques.
• Strong skills in budgeting, BOQ preparation, and task execution.
• Technical knowledge related to construction cost estimation.
