Job description
Role Overview
This position is part of the Advisory team at Validus Risk Management based in Toronto, focusing on advancing risk advisory services.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with clients to design and execute hedging strategies spanning multiple markets and asset classes including foreign exchange, interest rates, commodities, and equities.
- Support the Engagement Manager in day-to-day project activities.
- Participate in analytical tests to validate hedging solutions.
- Aid associates in reviewing client data and preparing regular performance reports.
- Manage relationships with select high-value clients subscribing to the Validus retainer service by providing strategic consulting, undertaking innovative projects, and ensuring proactive client engagement including technology platform presentations.
- Discover opportunities for upselling and cross-selling to existing clients and support business development processes.
- Stay informed on current academic research, technical advancements, and industry trends related to risk advisory.
- Comply with Financial Conduct Authority regulations and all internal company policies.
Qualifications & Requirements
- 1 to 3 years of relevant experience, ideally within management consulting, capital markets, investment banking, or private equity/hedge funds.
- A relevant undergraduate degree is mandatory.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills combined with meticulous attention to detail and a strong client-focus.
- Solid understanding of risk management principles in financial markets.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with Bloomberg platform is advantageous.
- Ability to manage time efficiently and perform well under pressure within tight deadlines.
- Robust numerical and analytical capabilities.
Compensation and Benefits
- The base salary range is expected to be between $70,000 and $85,000 annually, determined individually based on experience and location. This salary forms a portion of a comprehensive compensation package.
- Performance bonuses are awarded semi-annually based on predetermined success metrics.
- Starts with 20 days of holiday, which increases to 25 days with tenure, plus bank holidays.
