Position Overview
The Self Checkout Attendant role at Walmart Canada offers a fantastic opportunity to enhance your expertise within the retail sector. You will be tasked with delivering outstanding customer assistance to foster a positive and efficient shopping experience, primarily by supporting customers using the self-checkout terminals.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the self-checkout area to ensure it is tidy, orderly, and free from clutter, spills, and any obstacles.
- Guide customers on how to properly and efficiently use self-service checkout stations as needed.
- Encourage participation in company-sponsored initiatives such as credit card services, product protection plans, and charitable campaigns, when relevant.
- Monitor customer activity to identify when assistance is required.
- When intervening or performing quality checks at self-service stations, explain the reasons clearly and reassure customers that such measures are standard procedures.
- Be knowledgeable about handling electronic article surveillance (EAS) alarms and accurately complete the "Failure to Deactivate" log forms.
- Notify the Customer Service Manager if the self-checkout area faces cash shortages or technical difficulties.
- Ensure that Scan & Go scanners are returned to their designated storage locations after use.
Compensation
The starting wage for this position is $17.75 per hour.
Minimum Requirements
- Applicants must be at least 16 years old.
