Role Overview
Join Westpac New Zealand as a Risk and Compliance Analyst to foster a robust risk culture and make a significant impact across the organization. The role involves hands-on tasks across operational risk, compliance, privacy, and financial crime in a fast-paced environment, offering extensive learning and development opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to provide practical advice and support concerning operational risk, compliance, privacy, and financial crime.
- Assist teams in recognizing and managing risk while ensuring regulatory and governance compliance.
- Support incident, issue, action, and control management activities.
- Participate in risk and control evaluations and contribute to monitoring, assurance, and governance reporting to enhance risk outcomes.
- Engage in privacy and financial crime initiatives, respond to stakeholder inquiries, and monitor key risk indicators and emerging trends.
- Actively improve processes, strengthen controls, support projects and change initiatives, maintain risk registers, and elevate risk capabilities across the organization.

- Excellent organizational abilities to juggle multiple priorities efficiently.
- High attention to detail ensuring accuracy.
- Experience in analyzing data and creating reports to aid decision-making.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- A proactive attitude with dedication to continual improvement.
Additional advantageous qualifications and experience include:
- Background in banking, financial services, or other highly regulated sectors.
- Experience in risk management, compliance, financial crime, audit, assurance, governance, or related areas.
- Understanding of operational risk frameworks including control, incident, issue management, and remediation processes.
- Involvement in risk assessments, assurance reviews, or Control Self-Assessments.
- Knowledge of privacy laws and privacy risk management techniques.
- Exposure to Anti-Money Laundering / Counter Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) and financial crime risk management.
- Familiarity with governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) software such as Juno or similar platforms.
- Relevant academic qualifications in business, law, commerce, risk management, or related fields.
- Professional certifications or studies in risk, compliance, audit, privacy, or financial crime.
