Job description

Role Overview

As a Researcher, you will contribute proactively by regularly proposing content ideas for TV programmes and social media channels related to daytime shows. The position involves supporting the creation of a diverse array of content including current news, compelling real-life stories, health and consumer segments, along with celebrity interviews.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience working in a live television production environment.
  • A minimum of two prior credits as a Researcher within a journalistic setting.
  • Confidence and proven ability to conduct research interviews, write scripts and briefs, and liaise with on-screen guests, presenters, and experts.
  • A strong grasp of current affairs, trending topics, and relevant stories.
  • Proficient understanding of compliance requirements relating to health & safety, data protection, OFCOM, and ITV editorial policies.
  • Strict adherence to duty of care principles.
  • A demonstrated ability to generate continuous new ideas and concepts.
  • Insight into which social media content connects effectively with target audiences.

  • Experience in conducting thorough research interviews and producing brief, precise scripts and briefs within deadlines.

Technical Expertise

  • Keen attention to detail combined with skill in writing engaging scripts and briefs informed by up-to-date news and trends.
  • Understanding of sourcing reliable information and selecting appropriate research methods.
  • Knowledge of compliance with copyright and regulatory frameworks related to archive, images, property rights, and music.
  • Solid awareness of OFCOM rules, health & safety regulations, and production hazards.

Teamwork

  • A collaborative team member working effectively across departments to reach programme objectives.
  • Proactive and ready to take on various responsibilities as needed.
  • Active contributor within teams, showing initiative and support for colleagues.
  • Basic understanding of production management including scheduling, locations, and safety considerations.
  • Willingness to work flexibly across multiple programmes as demands require.
