Research Fellow

Overview

This part-time Research Fellow role (14 hours per week) at UNSW, based on the Kensington Campus in Australia, is available on a fixed-term contract until 28 June 2030. The remuneration package ranges from $133,065 to $156,864 annually, plus 17% superannuation and leave loading, all pro rata. This position offers an opportunity to engage in meaningful research within a collaborative environment focused on LGBTIQA+ health and women's health.

Role Responsibilities

• Lead independent and collaborative research initiatives under funded projects.
• Manage research tasks including ethics submissions, collecting and analyzing qualitative data, and handling diverse data sets.
• Produce scholarly outputs that advance the disciplinary knowledge and create significant academic impact.
• Support research collaborations and assist colleagues with their research activities.
• Mentor and supervise Higher Degree Research students on various projects.
• Engage in research translation and disseminate findings to academic, community, and NGO audiences to promote impact.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

• Possession of a PhD in sociology, cultural studies, public health, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Deep, up-to-date understanding and commitment to research in LGBTIQA+ and/or women’s health.
• Experience managing large-scale research projects, including regulatory and ethical compliance, data collection, and analysis.
• Expertise in qualitative research design, implementation, and methodologies.
• Proven record of producing high-quality research outputs with evidence of translation and dissemination.
• Engaged in community involvement through research, policy influence, or advocacy.
• Strong communication skills with an ability to build and maintain relationships across academic and community sectors.
• Collaborative working style and ability to contribute effectively within interdisciplinary teams.
