Key Responsibilities

  • Direct comprehensive preventative, predictive, and reliability-centred maintenance programs for marine structures, shore facilities, buildings, utilities, and civil infrastructure to ensure operational safety and efficiency.
  • Lead operational emergency responses and provide after-hours leadership during critical maintenance events to minimize service interruptions.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, regulations, and legislation across all maintenance activities.
  • Manage maintenance projects and minor capital initiatives, including budgeting, financial forecasting, and cost control to support asset lifecycle performance.
  • Develop and mentor a diverse unionized team comprising supervisors, planners, skilled trades, and administrative staff fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee contractor procurement, negotiation, and performance management to guarantee quality, safety, and efficiency in outsourced maintenance work.
  • Utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to monitor, schedule, and optimize maintenance efforts and maintain comprehensive maintenance records and metrics.
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, conduct risk assessments and incident investigations, and ensure regulatory compliance including coordination with agencies such as WorkSafeBC.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A university degree in Engineering or a related field; alternatively, a two-year community college diploma, technical certification, or trades certification is acceptable.
  • Professional registration with EGBC or certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or Maintenance Management are advantageous.
  • At least 5 years of progressive maintenance experience in industrial, marine, infrastructure, or related sectors with demonstrated leadership in a unionized environment.
  • Strong expertise in multi-disciplinary maintenance and asset management complemented by project and budget management skills.
  • Proficiency in working with CMMS platforms, ideally Maximo, and strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Benefits and Compensation
