Role Overview
Amentum is looking for a Recreation Services Specialist to contribute to a unique US Navy program located on Diego Garcia island. The specialist will play a vital role in enhancing morale and welfare by managing and facilitating various recreation programs for military personnel and civilians.
Key Duties
- Design, implement, and oversee recreational programs tailored to the military community's requirements.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols particularly around hazardous materials in line with CNICINST 1710.3 guidelines.
- Maintain or acquire CPR certification prior to starting employment.
- Participate in customer service training comparable to the Navy's MWR Star Service and AECR courses.
- Administer daily recreational operations, prioritize safety, and ensure client satisfaction.
- Organize and support special events, sports leagues, and community-wide activities.
- Engage with participants, address inquiries, and provide professional customer support.
- Inspect and maintain recreational equipment and facilities to meet safety standards.
- Assist in managing inventory and supplies used in recreational activities.
Essential Qualifications
- Certified or trained in handling/storing hazardous materials per CNICINST 1710.3, Chapter 1, Section 114.
- Valid CPR certification or willingness to obtain before employment starts.
- Completion or willingness to complete equivalent customer service training aligned with Navy standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent educational background.
- Experience or familiarity with recreational programming and customer service within community or military contexts.
- Possession of a valid passport with at least one year validity for international deployment.
- Ability to pass and maintain contract medical and deployment requirements.
Preferred Experience and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Sports Management, or related disciplines is advantageous.
- Prior work in military or austere environment recreational services or MWR programs.
- Proven track record of excellent customer service and program management.
- Skills in multi-sport officiating and event coordination.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational capabilities.
